RULES

The market is a farmers’ market enabling small local farms and gardeners to sell their produce direct to the public.

MEMBERSHIP
All vendors must be members in good standing of the Powell River & District Agricultural Association.
Vendors must submit an application to the Open Air Market Coordinator
All members contribute to the running of the market by attending work parties, joining committees, projects or tasks.
Membership includes insurance. -
Membership is limited to local, sustainable farms and home-based artisans.
Commercial businesses (eg. with employees, store-fronts, GST#) do not qualify to sell.

BOOTHS
Booths and vendor space are allocated by the Market Coordinator.
Vendors who commit to the whole season will be given priority.
There are no drop-ins.
Non-members cannot sell through regular members.

FEES
Annual membership: $15
Daily Fee: 10% of gross sales
Electricity: $1.50 per day
Please pay the Market Coordinator at the Information Booth after closing.
Round off to the nearest dime.
Vendor’s payments are kept confidential.

PRODUCTS SOLD
New products must be approved by the market coordinator (except produce).
Locally grown or hand-crafted items only, produced by the vendor.
Nursery plants CANNOT be bought and resold. Plants must be grown from seed or cuttings.
NO HERBICIDES, PESTICIDES, or FUNGICIDES. No treated or genetically-engineered seed.
Baking & cooked food must be truly home-made, from scratch. No mixes, no pop, no junk food.
Please minimize garbage and packaging. Re-use & recycle. No new styrofoam.

MARKET HOURS
Saturdays 10:30 -12:30
Sundays 12:30 – 2:30
Vendors must arrive ½ hour before opening and remain until closing. Vendors coming late may lose their booth.
No cars are allowed to drive on the grounds during opening hours, and must be parked 15 minutes before.
Vendors are not allowed to sell before the bell. This is to prevent early selling out. (Served food excepted)

RULES
No dogs
No smoking in booths or buildings
Take away garbage
Problems are dealt with by the Market Coordinator and ultimately, the Market Committee.

COURTESY
Prices are set cooperatively in the spirit of ‘friendly competition’.
Vendors also respect each others products and do not copy or undercut.

SAFETY & QUALITY CONTROL
All vendors selling served food or baking must have Food Safe
Gardeners using pesticides or herbicides, etc. will not be allowed to sell.
The Market Coordinator & Committee may ask permission to inspect farms and kitchens.
The Market Committee and local health inspector require certain labeling requirements.
